Fish

Fish are beautiful and elegant creatures in the way that they push their way through the water. The fish of Floyds Fork are no different. They add color to the streams, creeks, ponds and rivers of the area. These fish are healthy and give much importance to the waters of Floyds Fork. They are critical to the area and some of the species are listed below. The name and description of each animal is located to the left or right of their picture.

Largemouth Bass (Micropterus salmoides) - Common species of fish in the Floyds Fork area.

 Channel Catfish (Ictalurus punctatus)- Common species of fish in the Floyds Fork area. May weigh over 28 pounds.
Longear Sunfish (Lepomis megalotis) - Common species of fish in the Floyds Fork area.

 Green Sunfish (Lepomis cyanellus) - Common species of fish in the Floyds Fork area.

 Grass Pickeral (Esox americanus vermiculatus) - Common species of fish in the Floyds Fork area. 1-foot long or less. Big mouth.
White Sucker (Catostomus commersoni) - Common species of fish in the Floyds Fork area.

 Golden Redhorse Sucker (Moxostoma erythrurum) - Common species of fish in the Floyds Fork area.
Gizzard Shad (Dorosoma cepedianum) - Common species of fish in the Floyds Fork area. About 3 pounds, 2 feet long, bluish above with silvery sides.

 Stoneroller (Campostoma anomalum) - Common species of fish in the Floyds Fork area.
Creek Chub (Semotilus atromaculatus) - Common species of fish in the Floyds Fork area. 1 foot or smaller, blue on top and silver underneath.
Trout-perch (Percopsis omiscomaycus) - Common species of fish in the Floyds Fork area.
Slenderhead Darter (Percina phoxocephala) - Common species of fish in the Floyds Fork area.
Pallid Shiner (Notropis amnis) - Common species of fish in the Floyds Fork area.
Spotted Bass (Micropterus punctulatus) - Common species of fish in the Floyds Fork area.
Smallmouth Bass (Micropterus dolomieui) - Common species of fish in the Floyds Fork area.
Yellow Bullhead (Ictalurus natalis) - Common species of fish in the Floyds Fork area. Olive or brownish on top and yellow underneath, 15 inches with yellow or white barbells. 
Black Bullhead (Ictalurus melas) - Common species of fish in the Floyds Fork area. Yellowish- brown, olive, or bluish-black. 15 inches long with dark barbells.
