Floyds Fork Watershed
Objective: Students will research the area of the Floyds Fork Watershed during various
seasons to determine how it is affected by area run-off.
Learner Goals: 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.5
Materials: Maps of drainage patterns in the area, topographic maps (obtained from
USGS)
Procedure:
1. Students will need to research the amount of water flowing in Floyds Fork at a
particular season.
2. They will need to organize the data in terms of charts and graphs.
3. Comparative data can then be compiled in terms of speed of the stream and amount of
run-off that occurs.
Assessment: A formal research paper or portfolio entry
