Stream Bank Mini-biomes
Objective: Students will locate and study mini-biomes along the banks of Floyds Fork.
They will categorize them as to aquatic or terrestrial biomes.
Learner Goals: 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6
Materials: magnify glass, probes, and collection containers
1. Mark off a 3 ft. square in which to do the mini-study. It may include both water
2. Gently search the entire area noting the living, non-living, and evidence of life
in the area.
3. Categorize the flora and fauna that inhabit each mini-biome.
Assessment: Teachers will want to make their own assignment, such as an oral
presentation, a chart, a display, a model, etc.
